Speech Disorders

Here at Southern Arizona ENT, we can diagnose a wide variety of voice disorders along with other conditions that may affect your speech, vocal cords, or other areas such as thyroid or larynx. The complexity of speech disorders requires experience, expertise, and patience. Our team is highly qualified when it comes to solving these very difficult to diagnose and treat problems.

Dysphagia (Swallowing Disorders)

Swallowing disorders, also called Dysphagia, can be a complex and difficult problem to properly diagnose and treat.

Each patient will have a vastly different experience with varying severity, and it can affect daily life, including the ability to eat or drink. We’ve been successfully diagnosing and treating patients with Dysphagia for over two decades here in Tucson, and we can help you determine what is affecting you and help you get your life back.

Laryngeal & Voice Disorders

The larynx houses the vocal cords and is crucial for us to be able to produce sound. This highly specialized area can greatly affect or quality of life and make communication difficult. It may be something more serious such as cancer, but in many cases damage is not life-threatening and is caused by strain through excessive talking, talking too loud or low, coughing, smoking, screaming, or even singing.

Symptoms can include pain, swelling, and inflammation of the larynx, which can lead to a consistent hoarseness and difficulty swallowing or talking. Other issues might include vocal cord nodules, polyps, hemorrhage, or a variety of issues that may require surgical intervention.

It’s important to talk with your ENT to develop a comprehensive overview of your symptoms and to develop a treatment plan that’s unique to your symptoms. The majority of these types of problems are very treatable and we’re here to help you!
